On some occasions we buy applications in the store and regret the purchase. Or, we thought it was not enough for our need of the moment. Perhaps, too, the developer promised something he did not offer. That is why we can request a refund of the money we have paid. Here we will explain how to do it successfully.
Google Play Refund on Mobile
- Tap the Google Play icon from your Android device to launch the app.
- Search your purchased app from the search bar.
- Tap the app then click “Request Refund” from the option.
- Wait for the email confirmation that your refund request was processed and when the funds will be credited or refunded.
- Alternatively, you can directly open the Google Play Store app and tap the three horizontal lines at the top left corner of the screen.
- Go to Account and then Purchase History. From here, you will see your purchase transactions. Find the app or game from the list that you want a refund.
- Tap Refund and click “Yes”, to confirm you want a refund for the purchase. Clicking Yes also means that the app will be uninstalled.
- You will receive an email confirmation about the refund request.
- Another way to check if the refund has been processed is by checking your Order History. It should show “Cancelled” next to the refunded app.
- Also, it is always a good idea to check your bank statement to ensure the amount has been refunded.
Refund Process using Computer
- Go to google.com and search for Google Play refund to get the link. Or you may click here.
- Click Continue at the bottom right of the page.
- Select Yes then Continue at the bottom of the page to reveal the list of recent purchases.
- Make sure you are logged in to the same account used to make the purchase. Select Yes or No to confirm if the email on display is the correct account.
- Click “No” and Continue to be prompted with the link to login to the correct Google account.
- Select the purchase/s you want to be refunded from the options by clicking the radio button on the left hand side and then click Continue.
- From here, you need to select the reason for your refund request. Tick the appropriate reason and continue.
- On the next page, you must type the reason for the refund. Describe the issue or reason then click Request a refund to complete the refund request.
- You will then receive an email confirming that the refund will be processed.
Google Play Refund Policy
Google’s refund policy depends on what you purchased.
For apps, games, and in-app purchases, Google can issue a refund request is made within 48 hours of the purchase. Refund requests within the 48 hours period can be done through Google Play.
Meanwhile, if the 48-hour period has lapsed, you must contact the app developer to process a refund request. Go to the app’s Google Play page and tap Developer Contact for the developer’s contact information.
For the Google Play pass, Google can process a refund if you cancel within the first 48 hours of a monthly subscription. As for Google Play Movies, TV, or Google TV, a refund can be requested within 7 days of purchase if you have not watched it.
A 65-day grace period from the day of purchase is offered if a movie or TV show is defective or not performing well as advertised. The same policy applies to Google Play e-books.
For items paid at convenience stores using codes, a refund request is still possible. However, Google Play will give back any refunds as Google Play credit.
Refund Availability
Google Play refund takes different amounts of time depending on the payment method used to make the purchase.
Refund processing time for credit cards can take 3-5 business days. But this could also take up to 10 business days, particularly when issues arise from the card issuer side.
- For inactive credit cards, the money goes automatically to the card issuer and you must get in touch with the bank to get your refund.
- For online banking, processing time could take 4-10 business days depending on your bank.
- E-wallets like Gcash, AirPay, Linepay, TrueMoney, Coins.ph, and Edy, the standard refund process takes 1-5 business days.
- For a Paypal refund, the refund process could take 3-5 business days but this could also take up to 10 business days.
